Juliet
What do you think of Juliet? Too tragic? What about Juliette? Juliet or Juliette?
Juliet used to one of my faves but back then everyone seemed to love it and want to use it for a daughter. Now it seems to be less popular, at least on message boards, but it went up quite a bit according to the statistics.

I adore Juliet and would use this in a heartbeat. I think it's actually my #1 at the moment (or at least for today).
Re: being too tragic, I don't think so. I've considered this and came to the conclusion that if classmates ever teased her with, "Where's your Romeo?" then there are plenty of worse insults out there. OTOH, if she hated it, she could always go by the ever-friendly Julie (although I don't love it).
Re: spelling, I prefer the look of Juliet, however, I'd definitely use Juliette with a French surname. It seems more harmonious to my way of thinking.

It's by far the nicest of all the Juli- names. My only problem with it is the very strong probability that a Juliet would turn into a Julie or - worse! - a Jules; I would only consider it as a mn, therefore, but consider it I would.
I cannot see the point of Juliette unless one gives it the French pronunciation. Which doesn't happen.

I really like Juliet. I've liked it since a few seasons of watching Psych because it grew on me. It's not quite a favorite but if my husband didn't like any of my favorite girl's names but he loved Juliet then I'd happily use it. Juliet is definitely my favorite spelling. I also adore Jules as nn for Juliet though I prefer Julian nn Jules for a son.
