Re: Micah
I dislike it. (sorry)My bad personal impression: the only Micah I've ever known was a girl, and I liked her and her name a lot, and so it's feminine in my mind and I like it as a feminine name. Micah on a guy seems to me like a softened, less masculine, weaker version of Mike or Michael. It makes sense to me that Micah would seem appealing on a tender, pretty child. And like so many biblical male names ending in AH, it also has an archaic religious vibe for me.Micaiah is mik-KYE-uh or mik-KAY-uh to me; pronouncing it my- seems artificial to me. And Micaiah is even more white-bearded patriarch-y to me than Micah is. Anyway regardless of my personal impression, I think the pronunciation of Micaiah is troublesome. It's the kind of name where, if I were introduced to a Micaiah, I would not remember the pronunciation the first time I was taught - I think I'd have to be corrected repeatedly. So I'd rather see Micah than Micaiah nn Micah.- mirfak
