Cybele
What are your thoughts on Cybele? Would you rather see and hear Sybil / Sibyl? I'm a great lover of Sybil, but I find S's unappealing at times, so I wonder if I might begin to prefer Cybele, as they are pretty similar in sound. Thoughts? Combo ideas? Throw anything you have at me! Much obliged!

I'd be excited to meet a Sibyl and even more excited to meet a Cybele. Most of the excitement would probably be geeky excitement due to their rareness though, as I can't say I love either of their sounds. If I ignored the novelty of them, I'd say they're both okay-but-not-great to me. One reminds me of 'civil' and the other of 'civilly' but I get past that pretty easily. It's hard for me to say which I like better; it's sort of apples to oranges. Cybele is Greek chic and Sibyl is a classic throwback. I think I very slightly prefer Cybele because I like long vowels.I know an Abigail Sibyl, except Sibyl has some weird spelling I can't remember, like Syble or something. Are you a fellow Abigail hater? I think you are but I forget. I think Sibyl needs a classically feminine middle name.
Sibyl Rowena
Sibyl Julia
Sibyl Rosemary
Sibyl Aurelia
Sibyl Juniper
Sibyl Fay
Sibyl Andrea
Sibyl Hope
Sibyl MarigoldCybele needs a shorter middle name.
Cybele Violet
Cybele June
Cybele Patience

Yeah, I'm not big on Abigail at all. Sibyl Rosemary and Sibyl Juniper are darling, and I'm quite liking Sibyl Aurelia and Sibyl Rowena, too.Ah, I just mentioned Cybele Violet below, I love it. All of the combinatons you've listed for Cybele are lovely, actually. Thank you!

I think she'd get Cybele-bullied.Sorry I just wanted to make that joke. I actually don't really have an opinion on this name. I don't love it but it would be fun to see, though it does kind of sound like simile-with-a-cold.Cybele Edith
Cybele Francine
Cybele Catherine
Cybele Georgia
Cybele Demetria
Cybele Pauline
Cybele Shannon

Looks fine to me, although I personally prefer it with an S. I have also have a love/hate relationship with the name. Some days I like it, others not so much. Do you have any idea what you might like to pair it with?

Well my go-to Sybil combo is Sybil Josephine, but as Cybele is pronounce differently, that wouldn't quite work. I like the idea of Cybele Violet, I think!

I don't like it at all, and I'm not really a fan of Sybil either so it's no great surprise. The spelling and look of it is much more appealing than Sybil though.Cybele Morgan
Cybele Jane
Cybele Victoria
Cybele Marianne

Sorry to point it out if you already know, but Cybele is pronounced with a third syllable. Not that that will sway you if you don't like Sybil, but I just thought I'd clarify. Thanks! :)

I don't like the sound "Si-bih-lee". I dunno, it sounds like 'simile' with a nasal blockage.Sibyl (this spelling is my preference) is reserved, strong and classic. VERY elegant. Love Sibyl Guinevere soooooo much.

I hadn't thought about the similarity to 'simile', so thank you for pointing it out! Sibyl Guinevere is darling, but it's also an example of when my issues with the letter S comes into play. I don't like to see it paired with names with certain initials, most notably G, T, P, L, and F. It's a bit of an idiosyncrasy. I think if I were to have a Sybil, she'd have to be a Sybil Josephine. Cybele would allow me to be more flexible, I think.
