Blythe makes me think of GIlbert Blythe - a pretty good association. :) It doesn't really roll off my tongue, but as a middle name it's totally fine. As a first name, I can see the feminine-feeling concern, but as a middle name it's no big deal.
I know nothing about the correct pronunciation(s) of Braith, but I would have guessed long a based on the spelling. I like it better than Blythe, I think. It's a bit out-there, but it's nice.
How about Blaise or Blaze?
