Gretchen or Gretel have nice growly sounds. Or Elbe, perhaps, to move away from the human?

Cute! How about Sasha, Lola, Mila or Mona?

Heidi. When I was a child, we had a beautiful, intelligent, devoted female German Shepherd and her name was Heidi.

My first dog was a female german shepherd, so I'll suggest her name: Gretchen. Gretel and Greta would be cute too.
