Lupe is super cute. In a Spanish-speaking family (or one with Spanish-speaking heritage), I think Guadalupe would be great. She doesn't seem particularly suited to crossing racial boundaries to me, though.
As far as heavy goes, how do you feel about Gudrun? That one has always felt like a pile of bricks to me.

I should have noted in my original post that I'm looking at Guadalupe in more of a theoretical way. I'm not naming anyone soon, other than possibly a pet. Hey, Lupe (wolf) would make a cute name for a cat, no? Too mean?

Not too mean at all. Although I might tend to side more with the irony of a mouse or something equally meek and un-wolf-like.
