I think it's too common for girls still, but I don't encounter many male Taylors. It ranked #337 for boys in the U.S. in 2011, which doesn't strike me as overly popular. At #44 for girls, I think it's still too popular.
I only recall meeting one male Taylor around my age. I know of a Taylor who is in his teens and one little girl named Taylor who is probably somewhere between 8 and 10 years old now. I encounter a lot of little girls and teenage girls named Taylor.
I imagine a female Taylor to be blonde and into trendy things, but I don't have a set image in mind for either gender really. I think of blond hair first when I think of a male Taylor, but I can easily imagine a male Taylor with brown hair, too.
