Shelly
What do you think of Shelly for a girl? Shelly or Shelley?

I don't like it. It sounds really boring and icky. Plus it reminds me of Stan's sister from South Park.

I'm neutral on Shelly. I do have a cousin named Shelly and another on the other side of the family named Michelle, nn Chell /shell/. I definately see it as a girl.

I never liked Shelly much, but I love Sherry. Maybe it's The Four Seasons song that does it.

You do!?Awesome, I'm not the only one who likes Sherry!I've known a couple of really cool, smart, stylish Sherrys, and 0 trashy ones. It annoys me that people think it's some kind of trashy booze name. I'd forgotten all about the song.

I've always loved Sherry. It's delightful, and not the least bit trashy.

It's kind of cute. I prefer Shelly. I guess it should be short for something, though. I don't really care for Michelle. Hmmm.

It's okay. I don't mind it, especially if it's a nickname, but I don't think it's all that appealing. Too much like jelly. I prefer Sherry or even Kelly. Something about the spelling bugs me, too. Shelley looks better, I guess, but it also seems sort of pretentiously literary and surnamey. Shelly as a nick for Michelle ... but I don't like the change from C to S.

Not just to you: but, Shelley is pretentiously literary because of Percy Bysshe Shelley, the embodiment of that image.

mhm, that is what I meant. And Mary Shelley. The Shelleys were such a drama. Big image there.

This name has always been just ill-conceived, all around.

I like it. I don't think I have a preference as to what spelling. Maybe Shelley. For some reason I have encountered most of the Shelleys I know in the medical profession. The nurse at our family doctor's office is Shelley, the physical therapist who worked my bad ankle the last two weeks is named Shelley (one of the PT's; the other was Ryan) and there used to be a Shelly at the dentist's office.
