All that comes to mind upon hearing this is Jodie Sweetin (born in 1982), who played the character Stephanie Tanner on the television sitcom "Full House" (1987 - 1995.) So, as the dates suggest, I see it as a very '80s (and '70s, I suppose) name.
It has never verbally or visually pleased me... the letter combination and sound is very heavy and tired. To be quite honest, it seems a bit childish, incomplete, and entirely like a nickname to me. For a similar name, I favor Judy (as a diminutive for Judith) much more.
That being said, I certainly prefer it over the atrocities of contemporary life. Unlike those, Jody is professional enough to function.
