I've never heard of Rainer, but I immediately thought it was pronouned RAY-ner. I pronounce Rainier ray-NEER, like the mountains. They both sound very masculine to me. I'm not a fan of Rainer Gray, sorry-it reminds me of a blah, grey rainy day.
