Re: Malachy/Malachi

I would say mal-uh-kye
How did you say it and how does he prefer it said?
I really don't like the name myself. It just sounds evil, with the "mal" beforehand (which means evil in a few languages), and the hard "k". Plus, I'm reminded of the lead evil kid in the movie Children of the Corn, which terrified me as a child.
Also, I think it stands out in a sibset combo with Aidan, Finn, and Calla. Those names are short and sweet and Malachai sounds like the red-headed step-child of the combo.

It was pronounced mal-ah-kee? That sounds so weird... and it sounds like an Irish surname lol
Even with the y-ending, I'd have still said mal-ah-kye, like you.
eta: I just read Llewella's post. I didn't even know it was an entirely different name, I just assumed it was an alternative spelling of Malachai. Well, being of Irish origin, it now makes sense it's said with a kee and not a kye. Hm. Still not a real big fan of it though. I just don't like "mal" names.
