Liam was what my youngest sister planned to name a boy. But there is no Liam in my family, because as fate would have it, my sister is the mother of four girls and no boys.
I think it's kind of an annoying, whiney-sounding name. Just something about the sound of it---I don't like Ian, either, for the same reason. I guess it's the EEE-AAH sound. Plus it bothers me somewhat to see it used as a full name, because it is really a nickname for William. And, as someone here once pointed out, even as a nickname for William it's rather dumb and strained, because nobody pronounces William Wil-LEE-um.
