I was actually named for the moon of Uranus, which blew up and yet came back together again. Mom saw it on a Nova episode and liked it. But since Uranus's moons are all named after Shakespeare's characters...Although the name Admiranda is attested to in 1231/32 (http://snipurl.com/8wbl), Shakespeare probably invented Miranda independently c. 1611 for his play The Tempest. And that was probably much more than you ever wanted to know, lol.

what kind of nicknames do you get from Miranda besides Mira or Randi? Just wondering. It's one of my favorites.
