Re: OT: Myfanwy
Yes, I would pronounce them the same way. In Welsh, an "f" is pronounced like a "v" in English, and the "a" is more like an "ah" sound.

I was just wondering because "vahn" and "vawn"/"Vaughan" sound very different to me.
My lab tutor's name is Myfanwy - in English it tends to be pronounced "me-VAN-we" but in Welsh it's more like "me-VAHN-we".

Huh. I pronounce "vahn," "vawn" and Vaughn exactly alike. I live on the West coast of the U.S. Where are you from? Just curious. :-)

The UK. I live in Manchester, my lab tutor is from Wales (can tell by her accent!).
