Eli for a girl?
Pronounced like the boy name.My neighbor wants name her daughter this I like it and don't know why. WDYT?

Surely they could name her Eliana, Eliora, or, as already said, Elinor!

Maybe they could get away with it as a nn for Elinor or something, but it looks ignorant and silly as a full name for a girl.
I know a rabbi by this name, so I associate it with a tall guy with a black beard. Definitely not feminine.

*bursts into tears*Please, no. It's so masculine. It's no more feminine than David, Moses, or Abner. If she insists on Eli, I wish she'd choose Elinor and use Eli as a nn.

I really don't like it for a girl. Eli is not a bendable name to me.

I've never known it to be a girl name. I knew a boy named Eli, but no girls. Perhaps Ellie or another similar E (or I) name.
