Martha
Though I'm not overly fond of this name, it is my mother's name and I would love to find some way of using it to honor her someday. Are there any variants of Martha that I could use? It would most likely be a middle name, so any combos would also be greatly appreciated!

Aw. I like Martha. A very underrated name.
Like others, the snappy Marta variant appeals to me. If you click on Martha and then click on "related names" over to the right hand side you'll get a whole list of variants. My favorite is Martita. There was a stage actress named Martita Hunt. If you've ever seen "Becket" she plays King Henry / Peter O'Toole's mother. Anyway, I always thought her name was plucky.
The only other thought I had was something like Martine. I'm on a mission to make Martine more known and this is my shameless way of flaunting her. I suppose any "Mar-" name could work: Marcella, Marceline, Marianne, Mariah, Margot, etc.

Yeah, I'd looked at the related names, and none of them particularly jumped out at me. Marta is starting to grow on me a little, but someone in another post brought up the issue of names being too rhyme-y if they both in an "a" sound, which was part of the issue with Martha in the first place. I love Martine, though! I've only met one person with that name, and its close to Martha without the double "a" issue. And it goes with some of the names I like really well.
Bianca Martine (my favorite of the combos!)
Alice Martine (although Martha/Marta could work here, too)
Tera Martine
Sofia Martine
Kendra Martine
I've also toyed with the idea of using my mom's middle name (Ruth) if I can't find a variant of her first that I like, but I tend to have issues finding a middle name that flows well with single syllalble first names. I'm generally more likely to use a short mn with a longer fn, so reversing that seems a little abrupt to me. But I'm really starting to love the name Ruth! Just having mn issues with it.

I like Marta too. And I think it would work well as a first name. The challenge with using Marta as a middle name is that so many female names end in "a" or "ah" that you must be careful to avoid the names getting too rhyme-y. For combos, these come to mind:
Caroline Marta
Pheobe Marta
Penelope Marta
Katherine Marta
Gretchen Marta
Lisette Marta
Elizabeth Marta
Lucy Marta
Emily Marta
Jillian Marta
Evelyn Marta

I like Marta. WDYT?
There's always Marta instead of Martha.
