I met my coworker's twin girls yesterday...
...and they were named Ashlynn and Caitlynn. Spelled that way, too.Very cute babies, but I kind of felt sorry for them, having boring names spelled kre8tyvelee. What do you guys think? Am I alone in absolutely hating this combo?

No. No. Really? That's horrible! I mean, what do they go by, Kate and Kate?

Ashlynn and Caitlynn are not my fave names but they could be worse.

Definitely not alone. I dislike both names when spelled in their correct form so this just does it for me.

Yuck.

ughthese names are so overused and terrible to boot.

Well, to be fair, I don't feel *too* sorry for them. I just think it sucks to grow up with names hundreds of other kids are going to have, and the extra N's seem unnecessary. I agree it could be worse, but I really hate those bland suburban type names that are trendy these days. They just aren't special to me.To each their own, though. After all, they're not my kids.

Nice but I'd prefer Ashlyn & Caitlin.

I have a friend named Caitlynn so I am okay with that. Now Ashlynn is terrible.

Creative?Adding an extra n barely counts as creative.I doubt most non-namenerds would even bat an eye. They will just constantly have to tell people "with an extra n" and poor Caitlynn will have to continually spell her name out since Caitlynn can be spelled any number of ways.If it was Asheliynne and Khaiteliynne, then I would totally agree. But Ashlynn and Caitlynn will fit right in with their kindergarten class.

No, YOU ARE NOT ALONE.I dont like either name, both are too trendy, childish, rhymey for my taste. And I dont really like the spellings either. I would not give my children names with the exact same four last letters. Its almost cute for twins to have trendy and rhyming names when they are little, but they will grow up and it wont be all that cute anymore. IMO, although the spellings are creative, they are the same creative spellings which makes them not look all that creative anymore when they are together.

Boring and common...I wouldn't feel sorry for them, though. There are probably lots of little Ashlynns and Caitlynns running around.

Ditto... it could be way worse.

I don't feel like, horrible for them... But they're probably in for a life of inconvenience, because most people will only put in 1 N, and Caitlynn has about 100 other spellings. But I don't feel terrible for them. I'd feel really bad for an Aeshlyynne and Khaytelynne.

Oh no, don't say Aeshlyynne and Khaytelynne. Some little 13 year old girl may come on here and think they are "Oh so kyoot and yooneek!" LOLAnyways, I agree with you. I don't feel horrible for them, but they will have the inconvenience of repeating the spellings of their names. I also dislike how matchy they are.
