I guess here in England the name would be stereotyped as belonging to a spoilt upper class girl. So for somebody to want to give their child that name would be as if they were trying to emulate and convey themselves as upper class.

I disagreeIn my part of England (north east) just about every other kid you meet is named Charlotte. It's far from pretentious. Whereabouts are you from?

I live in Manchester and know quite a number of Charlottes. The message was referring to the nickname Lottie :)
