WDYTO Cheryl?
WDYTO Cheryl (for a girl of course)? Do you consider it related to a fruit (cherry)? What do you think the personality might be? Does it remind you anything unpleasant? TIA!

I think Cheryl is a pretty nameand the association to "cherry" is a positive one imo. There is a Finnish girl's name, Kirsikka, which means "cherry".But maybe English-speaking people find Cheryl too dated? I like both Cheryl and Beryl. And Meryl, b/c I think Meryl Streep is a great actress.

It's nms. It seems too dated. Cheryl doesn't sound very feminine to me for some reason.

I like it.The associations I have that make it a name I wouldn't use are Cheryl Tiegs, and just a general 20th-century-ness.. it fell out of fashion, as far as I could tell, during my childhood. All the Cheryls I've known have been 10-15 years older than I am.It doesn't remind me of cherries, but it does vaguely suggest something red, I suppose.- chazda

I know twins names Carol and Cheryl.

I don't consider it "fruity" at all. :b I know 3 Cheryls who are all annoying (one of which is a stripper) so I have BAD associations with it, and therefore don't care for the name at all. :b

I don't like Sh-sounding names. For instance, Sharon, Cheryl, Siobhan, Chanel, Charlene, Sherry. Don't know why, they just rub me wrong.

Well, my mom's name is Sheryl & she had a good friend named Cheryl. :o) Both were blonde, but mom is a sweetie while Cheryl was more edgy. Both loved their husbands, but when it came down to it, my mom put up with a bunch of crap until she figured out how to get my dad to change his ways, while Cheryl decided that divorce was the best way to go. B/c of this, I associate the name Cheryl with someone who is nice to a point & then takes matters into her own hands, while I associate Sheryl with someone who is softer, sweeter, and more timid.Love is the soggy Cheerio offered on a grubby toddler finger.

I don't really like it; it's spelling looks so awkward. Also, it doesn't have a clear meaning. I think someone named this would be very easy-going and pleasant.

I don't care for it. I'm reminded of Chernobyl before cherries.

Cheryl is one of those names I'm uncertain about...I kind of like it, but kind of don't, or maybe I do like it. Yeah I like it but I wouldn't use it. Cheryl would be blonde or strawberry blonde and a little dizzy but a super super sweet person. She would be fun to be around and very glamorous. She'd be a great hostess and the life of the party. I never think of cherries when I hear Cheryl. One of my mom's best friends is named Cheryl and she is just like I decribed. She finally got out of her crazy 15 year relationship with a creep named Doug. He would come home every day and expect dinner to be done and he never did a bit of work around the house even though they both had jobs. Cheryl broke up with him a couple of times but he always begged her back and she is such a softy she came back. Doug was one of those crazy power hungry men that's the only reason he liked her, because she made him feel like he was powerful because he had power over her. When they finally broke up for the last time the guy tried to screw her over and take all of their valuable property then after all that was over he stole some her stuff and harassed her once she moved to her new place. She told him she didn't care about what he stole, she told him she knew that he was just trying to feel like he had some power over her and it wasn't working and then he finally left her alone. Cheryl is smart and super nice, but a little naive and too trusting. She is the type of person that loves fashion and has a convertable but has always been more modest and polite than a rude party animal. She also is a very good business woman. So that's what I using see when I think of the name Cheryl.---------------------------------------------------------------------
