Laura is my sister's name. She doesn't like it very much, but I love it. I'm not really sure why Lauren is used more often, but I do know it bothers my sister... she's been called Lauren, Laurie, Lorraine, etc. since pre-school. That's the only flaw I have against it-- it gets confused with so many other similar names.

ETA: My sister will be 20 in October... most of the Laura's I've met are older than me. I haven't seen many babies with the name.
