I love Irene pronounced eye-REEN-ee. I wouldn't use it though, but it'd be near impossible to achieve that pronunciation in modern times. I live in Britain also ... I thought maybe eye-REE-nee may be a american-accent thing; but I think now I would have a hard time trying to convince people it is a legitimate pronounciationalice xEdited because I can't spell
