I agree with the thing about the word "ail" .. I pronounce it the same as you do, if it's Ayla. Aila looks like it could also be pronounced with a long I sound, like Aileen. The Ayla spelling looks .. well, sort of too phonetic, somehow, to me. I guess I just don't care for the name much. It's sort of the same reaction I have to Ella: it seems bland and incomplete. But it also can seem elegant; I go back and forth. Anyway the spelling Ayla looks somewhat inelegant to me. Maybe, if you are looking to spell it differently - Aela, with pronunciation taking a cue from words like aerial, aeroplane?
