It remindes me of rude .At least it is better than Randy (which btw is an English slang word, if you don't use it in America)

Eh. I don't like Rudy at all- it reminds me first of the word "rude" and then of "The Cosby Show." Rudolf is wonderful, though.

I *love* Rudolf but prefer the spelling Rudolph, Rudy is great too.

Hmm we had a guy at school called Rudolf, nn Rudi, and he was THE most annoying person you ever met, never stopped talking about trains, and the Titanic, even though no-one else was interested. If I get past that association, I can see it being quite cute on a little boy, however I can't really see it on a grown manS xx

Great uncle or not, I think it's terrific. I like the name Rudy - it's friendly and butch sounding to me.. and it needs to be a nick for Rudolf / Rudolph, imo. (Btw, I didn't even think of the reindeer thing until I typed it out with a ph instead of an f. I don't think that matters at all.)

I don't care for it, but since Rudolf is a family name, then I'd say use it as a middle name. But, I don't think the formal name choice should revolve around a nickname.
