Re: JOHANNA
Johanna and Jonna come from the same root but they sound completely different. Johanna is jo-HAN-uh or yo-HAN-uh depending on your background, whereas Jonna is just JON-uh.I've never heard of Jonna the Whale so I would never associate the name Jonna with whales. I think of a friend from uni named Jonna. The only spelling I like for Johanna is, well, Johanna. I also like Joanna which is of course pronounced differently.

Johanna was, I think, my grandmother's name. the "I think" is because she was always called Hannah. however, *she* always insisted it was johanna, and I suppose she'd know. (she was orphaned young.)

One of my great-great-grandmothers was a Johanna, if I recall correctly. She lived somewhere in northern Europe - Germany, Poland, former Czechoslovakia or Austria, but I can't remember which!
