Tähti is pronounced something like TEH-tee (the vowel sound the 'ä' letter makes is difficult to explain. It's kind of like the vowel sound in the English word 'bad', or 'saddle'.
Taivon doesn't mean 'star' in Finish. It doesn't mean anything, to my knowledge.
Here are some Finnish nature/word names I've heard:
Tuuli - 'wind'
Sade - 'rain'
Meri - 'sea'
Otso - 'bear'
Halla - 'frost'
Kivi - 'stone'
Lumi - 'snow'
Kaisla - 'reed'
Valo - 'light'
Aamu - 'morning'
Säde - 'ray of light'
