Was the story based in America or elsewhere?If yes, according to the US Social Security Administration, Clementine was No#376 in 1880 (the first year that statistics were recorded). That translates to only 19 girls who were given the name in that year. So Clementine was used although rarely in the US at least in the late 1800's. I suspect it was more prevalent in France and England.Mary was the No#1 name (7,065 girls) and Rose was No# 30 (700 girls) so they were more popular than Clementine. If I was the author, I would have used Mary Rose which is more vintage than Maryrose which doesn't look right for the time frame.

It was based in the USA in 1824. I also chose Maryrose(with that spelling), because it felt like the only name that would suit the character. Clementina was pretty common in Italy
