I'm surprised people are saying the have never heard it in real life. It's quite popular in French (most often spelled
Jérôme or
Jérome). I can remember at least 2 or 3 at my school, growing up in the early 2000s in Québec. And believe me, it's not associated with one cultural group in particular.
To me it's a nice enough name. Not my fav, because it feels a bit common. But it's a fine name to grow up with.
