The word itself with that ambiguous "aw" sound is too awkward to be a name for a human or a dog IMO. I could sort of see it on a kitten but not even a full-grown cat. The only other time I've seen a baby animal used as a name is "
Colt", and that only works because it's associated with surname-names like
Colter and
Colton. I think it's fine for animals to be named after other kinds of animals (a human named
Robin, a cat named
Fox, a dog named Falcon, etc.) but it would be weird to be an adult of any species named after a kind of baby.
