I like it. Aside from the flower itself it always reminds me of the piano kid in the beginning of The Music Man.
It's long and frilly, but not in an ungrounded way. Ama is a sweet and easy nickname. Could also be Amy, Mary, Mari, Amary, Amari, Lisa, or Lys.
