Re: Katie and Katrina
in reply to a message by )(
When I was a little boy, I had a ragdoll named Katie (her full name was "Katelyn Vanessa Sycamore"). I remember being five and receiving her as a gift; I didn't know what to name her. I thought about all of the names I knew; my favorite for a girl was Daisy. Except, I already had my (then) dog, Daisy, so...couldn't use that one. Suddenly, I randomly announced, "Hmmm...Katie!!"; it stuck. Whenever I think about the name Katie, that is what I think of; childhood imagination and happiness through bitter times. I still love the sound of Katie, and I find it very cheerful. As for Katrina, I prefer it to Katie; it's such a pretty and unique name. Hurricane Katrina happened months after I was born, so I don't know many around my age. I think that stigma has stopped it from being used, but shouldn't be a problem nowadays. Katrina nicknamed Katie would be an awesome name, if not Katrina in full. I love the name Katrina.
