I used to perceive it as quite pretentious what with the French spelling. But it really grew on me in recent years. I heard someone use the pronunciation where the "u" is clearly pronounced and I was just immediately charmed. Since then I came to enjoy both options for the middle syllable but I'm still not sold on the "leen" ending - I really only like "lynn".Jacqueline Faye
