I don't enjoy Alejandra, Berta or Flor, and I have very powerful negative feelings towards a person named Fernando, so Fernanda (though I used to know a pleasant one, not Spanish) is tainted by association.

I like Celia and Silvia in any language. And perhaps Diana would shed its Doomed Princess aura in Spanish? Would it still shorten to Di? Because that's a real turn-off.
