I know an Alexa who was born, and given it as a full name, in the early 1950s. I like it very much, though not enough to use - too many other names ahead of it in the queue. I would never even think of using Alexandra: too long for everyday use, and though I do like Alexa, I deplore Sandra both as a nn and as an independent name. I wouldn't take the risk.
