It sounds masculine to me since it makes me think of Elijah's protege in the Bible. Soundwise, it has Eli (another Old Testament figure) meets Shaquille O'Neal vibes.

I would expect the name to be pronounced differently as a girls' name.
Boy: EE-LIE-shə
Girl: El-ee-shə - more like Alisha or Alicia.
