Look, I know that the jonquil is a flower, but every time I see this word and say it aloud I think of NyQuil cough medicine, and its counterparts DayQuil and ZzzQuil. Jonquil sounds like over-the-counter medicine for... a sinus infection, or something.
Not to mention that the nicknames don't exactly recommend themselves. Jonny? Quill / Quillie? Eeek.
