Re: Gemma
I like it but I dislike the nickname Gem. I'd only use it in its full form. It sounds a bit dated because it is so close to Emma. And I might be in the minority here but Emma is starting to sound teenaged to me or young adult (up until 35 or so) and not like a name for kids or babies anymore. Gemma feels a bit older even.I heard that in the UK it is really really dated and seen as a bit tacky. At least those were responses I got when I asked about it years ago.I wouldn't use a word name. Gemma Rose or Gemma Jade sound...a bit trendy and stripper-ish to be honest. It needs a really classic, long name to balance it out. Gemma Beatrice, Gemma Caroline, Gemma Evangeline.I'd just use my favorite names with it. Gemma and Lily or Gemma and Eilidh or Gemma and Isla. Gemma and Conall.
