Re: Gaia
In my accent, GAH-ya sounds just like GUY-a. The vowel sound in "guy" is shorter than if I aimed to say GAHy, but the name Gaia wouldn't come out sounding any different if I try to say GAH-ya versus just saying GUY-a. I say Gaia to rhyme with Maya and Kaia and Mariah.I think it could get more common here (US), over 10-20 years. It's kind of like Freya and Maia. But not top 500, unless a person or a certain kind of character rises to fame with the name. I think people still associate it too much with the 'earth goddess' or 'Gaia hypothesis', and so it also has an expansive, hippie vibe, like Eartha or Dove.- mirfak
