I totally agree with you re: Polly/parrot. I once knew a woman my age named Polly who was somewhat uptight. We were having lunch one day and I actually asked her, "Polly, want a cracker?" I truly didn't mean anything by it and when I realized what I'd just said, I burst out laughing. I didn't mean to do that either. She was NOT amused. Oh, well. Also, her full name was Polly Annabell (this spelling) which reminded me of that Disney movie, Pollyanna.
