I'd pronounce it as you do.
It's pretty, for sure. Prettier than Agnes. But I almost think it's a cop-out, or dumbing -down of Agnes.
On the other hand, if I was forced to choose to name a daughter one or the other, for her sake, I'd likely use Agnessa.
