I prefer the C spelling. I know both spellings are legitimate on this one and have long histories, but changing Ks to Cs in perfectly good names and words was such a huge trend for so long. It makes things look cheap and common, like Krispy Kreme or Kwik Kopy. I’m not saying we should change all Ks to Cs, just that when there’s a choice, I’ll choose the C every time.
That being said, it used to be the height of trendiness to change Y to I (Brandi, Ricki, etc.), and a generation later the opposite was true. I wonder if words like “thicc” indicate a coming switch.
