I'm in the UK and while I know Harriet and Matilda are normal and quite popular these days, they still feel posh to me, especially Harriet.

I'm guessing that quite a few of those Harriets (like my cousin) are named after great-grandpas, etc. called Harry - a very common name.

Ah, that hadn't occurred to me. I get a completely different vibe from Harry v Harriet, but it makes sense!

Not posh in the sense many commoners use them, but Matilda has been the #1 fn for peerage-born girls for awhile. Harriet is up there too. Also the common Charlotte, Amelia, and Alice.
