Re: WDYTO Constance
in reply to a message by Joiya
I love Constance. It simple and classic and something about the sound is just really appealing to me.My partner vetoed it for us though, because he doesn't like virtue-type names. He considers it like naming a daughter Patience or Faith. I happen to not like most other virtue names, but for me, Constance is different because it's been used solely as a name for a while now (constance as a word is now considered obsolete). Plus I think it's a good virtue!__________________________________The human brain is a haphazard, messy machine that glitches at the slightest, strangest provocation.

I happen to like Patience a lot too. But, I get that virtue names often comes with a lot of pressure. DH vetoed Victor for that reason. sigh. I love the point about whether an obsolete virtue (in word, not deed!) makes it better. I wonder.
That is probably why people are so taken with names like Amity and Verity. Makes you think names like Tace, Credence and Makepeace might get some light again.
