It seems overly posh. Also I always feel confused on how to pronounce it. The first time I saw it I assumed it was ZHEEL. I have to remember that it's JIELZ.

Well, you were right first time, for the French pronounciation.
It's a reasonably common name here, probably not on anyone under 25, though. a nice name.
