Is Marcella considered an "old lady name" in Italy? You don't hear it much in the U.S. so that is interesting!

Hi !!!Yes Marcella in Italy is dated. But isn't a 'granny name' (Antonia or Giuseppina or Angela are more granny than Marcella imo). Marcella is instead a name for an...old aunt in (my mind) so dated but not so elderly.Mara is simply unusual. You can meet a 20s woman named Mara or a woman in her 40s or also a baby. I want that this name will revival in the future because I like it!.I'm glad that people are interested in Iralian names XDByeeeeeeee

Even though I've never known anyone named Marcella, it right away brought the image of an old lady to my mind. I'm not sure why.
