This has been my favorite girl's name for a long time. I love the long "i" sound, the little zing you get from the Z; the old-fashioned associations that come to mind; and the fact that it's attached to such a traditional name like Elizabeth, but unique in its own nickname realm.
Its popularity is climbing steadily and surely. For me, I think part of the appeal of the name was always that I never knew an Eliza (I do know a "Liza" age 12). If I met some young Eliza I'd probably be less likely to use it, but popularity can't take away its charm!
