It's my wife's name, and I love it to pieces. She goes by
Ellie most of the time. I don't think it's too old-fashioned at all - its use has been steadily rising in the US and it's been firmly popular in the
UK for a while now.
Normally I'd say that
Eleni and
Eleanor are too close, but as it's a tradition I think it's fine, especially if you're using Nell/Nellie or
Noor as nicknames.
