If I loved the full name and the nickname, I would. Yes, I do think it would confuse people but no more than a girl being named Michael or Ryan, or a child named Kaytelynne, or John going by his middle name of Andrew.

I know a young Mary who goes by Molly and people were surprised where Molly came from as a nickname but I don't think it is a big deal.
