I know. Actually in this post, you're saying what I was trying to explain to you. But in your original post that Billina objected to, you said this hispanic name was bad for an "American," though. Lots of hispanic people are Americans. America has mostly white people with English-speaking backgrounds, but not all. So it seemed like you were excluding hispanics from the multicolored quilt of American culture, as it were.
Anyway, I know what you're saying, and culture-borrowing is a separate issue, but I know tons of little white babies named Cruz. I don't think it's dominated by hispanic people anymore. Probably mostly used by them, but not to the point where I'd assume a Cruz was hispanic. I think it's inspired largely by Tom Cruise bringing the sound into style, and the fact that "Cruz" happens to mean "cross" and therefore has a more palatable meaning than just Cruise itself.
