Re: Marilla
I very much agree with your first sentence! L. M. Montgomery used charming, utterly classic names for her characters. I'm glad to see that someone else likes Joyce. :) It seems to be stuck in fashion limbo after experiencing some popularity in the 40s and 50s. It's so sweet, though, and deserves to be dusted off and used again. I really like the nickname Joy, too, which Anne also used.Anne's Marilla is actually Bertha Marilla, but yes, she was called Rilla. I actually like the name Bertha, however I like Marilla so much more. Rilla is a delightful, endearing nickname which would transition well from childhood to adulthood. And yet someone else who like Máiri Cordelia! I'm so pleased at how well the combo has been received. Perhaps I should consider Máiri Cordelia and Mòrag Davina as twin names.Thank you for your lovely compliment on my naming tastes, dearie. I appreciate any and all kind words very much. :) _____
