Love it
I went through a major Peter loving phase for a year or so where I would've named a second son that. It's still on the list, but has been overtaken by two or three other names lately. It's so kind and huggable and honest and it has great associations-- Peter Rabbit, Peter and the Wolf, and Peter Pan, particularly. At first I didn't like Pete, but I do now. It's very down-home. I wouldn't use it exclusively, but I'd use it.Pieter looks like an entirely different name to me. It's much colder.
